Negative COVID-19 test requirement
The Swedish Government has decided to implement a negative COVID-19 test requirement for travellers entering Sweden from the 28th of December.
The Swedish Police Authority will be responsible for carrying out checks. Previous checks have been based on the requirement of a COVID certificate.
Starting on the 28th of December, all foreign travellers, with a few exceptions, will have to show proof of a negative test result upon entering Sweden, even if they are vaccinated. The test must be no more than 48 hours old when they cross the border.
The entry ban and exemptions from test requirements remain unchanged. This means that Swedish citizens and foreign citizens who are registered in Sweden are exempt from the test requirement.
