Trade in firearms and ammunition

Applying for a permit to trade in firearms.

To be allowed to trade in firearms, you must have permission from the Swedish Police.  Submit your application as provided in the instructions on this page. The Swedish Police will assess, based on your application submitted, whether you have sufficient knowledge and documented experience allowing you to obtain a permit, and whether the business operations will be able to be conducted in a responsible and professional manner.

It may be necessary to apply for several different permits for your business operations. Permits are needed for:

  • Approval of the representative for weapons trade
  • Trade in firearms
  • Approval of the weapon dealers’ representative with a test shooting
  • Approval of the replacement of the representative
  • Weapon Dealer’s Notification
  • Weapon Dealer’s Declaration - weapons from Sweden
  • Transfer of Weapons to an EU country - weapons dealers

Once you have submitted your form, a payment notice is sent to your registered address. Processing begins once the application fee has been paid and registered.
