In swedish: Information about temporary import of firearms to Sweden

Travelling from the Nordic region (not including Iceland)

If you live in Norway, Finland or Denmark and there hold a permanent  permit to possess a firearm, you do not need to apply for a import permit if you plan to visit Sweden for a period shorter than three months to hunt or compete in shooting. It is required to bring your permanent firearms permit from your home country or a European firearms pass.

This also applies if you hold a permanent permit to possess a firearm and plan to travel through Sweden to Denmark, Finland or Norway for occasional hunting or competitions in any of those countries.

European firearms passport

If you have a valid European firearms passport you may, without an import permit, bring in firearms that are included in the firearms passport with associated ammunition and silencers during a stay in Sweden for temporary use during hunting or competitive shooting. You must bring documentation proving that the items are to be used for hunting or competitive shooting in Sweden. Anyone who has brought firearms, ammunition and silencers into Sweden may possess the items in Sweden without a permit for a maximum of three months from the date of entry.

Travelling from countries outside the Nordic region (including Iceland)

If you do not have a valid European firearms passport and have been invited to participate in hunting or competitive shooting in Sweden, you must apply for an import permit from the Swedish Police Authority. The import permit is valid only for a limited period.

As a foreign competitor or guest hunter, you must apply for an import permit and pay the fee in advance of your planned trip.
