Council working groups
Under the EU's Council of Ministers, there are approximately 20 Council Working Groups addressing issues that affect Swedish Police activities.
Together with the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers is the EU's decision-making body. Before an issue is addressed in the Council of Ministers, it is first processed by one or more of the EU's Council Working Groups. The Council Working Groups' task is to prepare all issues prior to them finally being addressed at the ministerial level.
Ministerial officials from the EU countries or officials from the countries' EU representation in Brussels participate in the Council Working Groups. With regard to issues that impact the Swedish Police, the official in question often belongs to the Ministry of Justice, but in certain groups, the responsibility has been delegated to police employees.
In close collaboration with the Government Offices, the Swedish National Police Board prepares the police documentation pertaining to Swedish standpoints in Council work.
