Firearms permit
You need a firearms permit issued by the Swedish Police Authority to possess a firearm in Sweden.
Requirements for trade in firearms
To be allowed to trade in firearms, you must have a permit from the Swedish Police Authority.
Apply for permit to trade in firearms
A permit to trade in firearms may be given to either a natural person or a legal person. In most cases, it may be necessary to apply for several different permits to trade in firearms.
Temporary import of firearms
If you want to bring your weapon to Sweden temporarily, you need a permit. Keep in mind that the firearm you plan to bring to Sweden must be approved for hunting or competitive shooting in Sweden. There are exceptions to the permit requirement, for example if you hold a European firearms passport.
Permanent import of firearms
If you want to permanently import firearms to Sweden for private use, such as for hunting or target shooting purposes, you have to apply for a permit to possess the firearm in Sweden.
Professional repair and overhaul of firearms
In order to professionally repair and overhaul firearms, you need a permit from the Swedish Police Authority.
