Closures in Helsingborg during NATO meeting
On 21 and 22 May, Helsingborg is hosting a NATO meeting. The 32 Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states will be staying and holding a meeting in central Helsingborg, and there will be an official dinner at Sofiero Castle.
The task of the Police is to ensure that the meeting and activities in connection with the visit can be conducted in a safe and secure manner. This means that parts of central Helsingborg and the area around Sofiero Castle will be closed off before and during the NATO meeting (please see the enclosed maps).
“The NATO meeting is important to Sweden, and the large number of ministers of foreign affairs visiting means that the need for protection is high. The Police are working to minimise the impacts on the local community, but there will be closures and restricted access in some places”, says Mattias Sigfridsson, the Police Operation Commander.
The Police do not advise against going into central Helsingborg in connection with the meeting. However, certain road junctions may be closed for short periods of time when motorcades pass through them.
Movement around the conference centre will be restricted before and during the meeting. The Police have held a dialogue with business operators that are directly affected by the meeting.

- From 22 May at 20:00 hrs. to 23 May at 16:00 hrs., the closed-off area will be reduced and limited to the area immediately adjacent to the conference centre.
The public’s use of Kvickbron will be limited before and during the meeting.
Stortorget will at times be completely closed for traffic.
